Live-Action Blood: The Last Vampire Teaser Gets 450,000 Acce
The Japanese film distributor ASMIK Ace Entertainment reports that last month's teaser trailer for the live-action Blood: The Last Vampire film was accessed 450,000 times in two weeks on Google's YouTube service. Chris Nahon and Pathé are adapting Mamoru Oshii and Hiroyuki Kitakubo's Blood: The Last Vampire anime in this new project. South Korea's Jeon Ji-hyun (under the credited name of Gianna Jun) plays the main character Saya, a 16-year-old sword-wielding girl hunting down supernatural creatures.
The film will open in Japan on May 29 (under the title Last Blood), in the United Kingdom on June 12, and then in France on June 17. No American release plans for the movie have been officially announced yet. The Korean news website Star News reported last August that Universal Pictures acquired the domestic distribution rights, but the reported 2009 American release date is unconfirmed.

Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell films, Mobile Police Patlabor, Avalon) conceived the anime's original story, which Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of The East, Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit) turned into a screenplay for director Hiroyuki Kitakubo ( JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Robot Carnival's "A Tale of Two Robots," Roujin Z). Hong Kong's Ronny Yu adapted Kamiyama's script for live-action, and Chris Nahon directed the new version.

The video shows a fight between the sword-wielding, vampire-hunting girl Saya (My Sassy Girl and Daisy's Gianna) and her nemesis Onigen (The Last Samurai's Koyuki).The channel is also streaming five other videos. The French film website AlloCine posted six English making-of videos and a trailer in both English and French.
